Currently, the document metadata editing interface allows the user to enter free text or select a value from a list («Afar», «Afrikaans», «Aghem», «Akan»…). In this case, the value selected from the drop-down list replaces the current value in the «Language» field. The UX of this solution leaves much to be desired. It allows text values in the field that are not related to language codes, and complicates the entry of a list of values. I suggest considering changing the language drop-down list to this. It is convenient for entering both single values (the drop-down list is dynamic) and multiple values, since it automatically inserts separators after each confirmation.

Re: [suggestion] Simplify assigning multiple languages to a document SOLVED
Hello, Jensen Head
This seems to be nearly the same as your initial report over in the other thread you mentioned: viewtopic.php?p=154082#p154082
In any case, I am sorry to say that while writing this, I did hear back from the Dev team, this has been rejected with the clarification that by definition, the field in question is intended to show the singular "Default Language" of the document. It is not intended to have multiple present, (This is apparently also why, as you asked in your other post, there is no indication of what separator should be used here - none are supposed to be used at all) and as such, we will not be offering tools to facilitate that at this time.
Kind regards,
