Even when aspect ratio of the display and the page match in FullScreen & FitPage mode, extra inverted L-shapes are shown

=== UPDATE ===================================================================
The issue reported below has been resolved in Ver 10.7.0 build 398.
I appreciate all the hard work and efforts of the support and development team.
==============================================================================

Hello all,

In typical PDF applications, when the aspect ratio of the display and the document match perfectly, displaying in full screen mode and "Fit Page" mode will fill the display completely with content. In other words, there is no room for pixels unrelated to the data to be displayed.

To achieve similar results in the full-screen mode with PDF-XChange Editor, you need to disable at least the following two options.

  • "Show Gaps Between Pages" option in the Page Display group on the View tab
  • "Show page border and shadow" option in the Full Screen category of the Preferences dialog
  • setting1.png

    setting2.png
However, even if both of these options are disabled, unnecessary lines that do not exist in the original document will be displayed at the bottom and right edges of the display in PDF-XChange Editor, as shown in the figure below. The width of the lines is at least 1 pixel. Perhaps they can be described as huge, extremely thin lines like an inverted L-shapes.

    InvertedLshapes.png
Interestingly, once you enable "Thin Lines" mode and then disable it again, i.e., press the shortcut key Ctrl+5 twice, these inverted L-shaped lines somehow disappear.

The following diagram is screen captures taken from the video shown at the end of this post. Even if you press the shortcut key Ctrl+5 to change from normal mode to "Thin Lines" mode, and then press the shortcut key Ctrl+5 again to change from "Thin Lines" mode to normal mode, the inverted L-shaped lines will not be displayed as before. This behavior is welcome as a workaround, but on the other hand, I suspect that this behavior might not be intended by the developer, so I am reporting it here.

  • figure1.png
So far, I have focused on "Fit Page", but if you select "Fit Width" mode, unnecessary lines will be shown on the right edge of the display, and if you select "Fit Height" mode, unnecessary lines will be shown on the bottom edge of the display. Therefore, I reported the "Fit Page" mode case as a representative case that includes both of these.

In contrast, with Acrobat, you can display pages across the entire display panel in full-screen and "Zoom to page level" mode simply by pressing the shortcut keys Ctrl+L, without having to make any prior settings or perform any special operations.

  • ACROBAT.png
The sample file contains pages with aspect ratios corresponding to common display resolutions. When verifying, please open the page corresponding to your display resolution from the bookmarks.

Please watch the video for details. This video deals with a very subtle phenomenon, whether or not a 1-pixel line is shown at the right and bottom edges of the screen, so even if you watch this video in a browser with a white background, you may not be able to see the difference clearly.

In that case, if you play the video in full-screen mode, it should be shown on a black background, so you should be able to check whether there are white lines at the edges of the video. Another option is to download the video file locally and play it with a video player that supports WebM format.

Hoping that the above information will be of some help to you.
Thank you so much for your continued support.

Best regards,
rakunavi

Hello rakunavi,

I do not see exactly the same as you, but I still see a few similar issues.

I will as well forward that report to our developers for further investigation.

We will keep you posted on any progress about this report.

Regards.

Hello Dimitar, thank you for contacting developers.
Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule.

Since I am talking about the very minor details of whether or not a line of just one pixel appears at the edge of the screen, I am very relieved to hear that you were able to reproduce a similar, even if not exactly the same, situation.

Please give my best regards to the developer.

Best regards
rakunavi
