Mac OS X 10.9.1 PDF Files Crash MS Explorer

Hi, I downloaded a PDF calendar from my daughters school. The file properties were: PDF Producer: Mac OS X 10.9.1 Quartz PDFContext, Application: Word, PDF Version: 1.3. Operating system on my computer is Windows 7 64. After opening the file in MS Explorer, I wanted to put the file on my desktop as a shortcut like I have done with other PDF files. After right clicking on the file and pressing "Send to", MS Explorer locks up and when I try to close it, it says "not responding" and a Msg pops up asking if I want to restart, close or wait. I tried several times. I wound up both saving a copy of the file to the desk top in my user folder and exporting the file as a tiff file as work arounds. Is this problem due to the file being produced on a Mac? I'm using PDF-XChange Editor Ver. 5.5 (build 312.0)
