REQUIREMENT: Preserve "Recolor Pages" options to last used setting per type, especially in same session - preferably across sessions.
We use "recolor pages" a lot on scans of old books and magazines. It works great.
Typically, we select a representative page and experiment with the settings for Black and White. We rarely used the Dither option and frequently end up with a setting of image type, and a threshold between 120-135.
Once that has been established we select all pages and then deselect those with pictures or other artifacts that won't survive conversion to black and white. We then convert all remaining selected pages to B&W.
Returning to the pages that we not converted and try to find settings to improve their readability. Subjectively, sometimes that is in fact to convert them to B&W. Switching "Recolor Pages" back to B&W settings causes the default settings of Dithering and threshold 204 to be loaded.
This isn't a major issue but it is frustrating and can be time wasting behavior when working with a lot of pages.
This is simply demonstrated. Open the Recolor dialog, select B&W as the type, unselect Dither, close the dialog; Open the dialog select type grayscale, close the dialog; Open the dialog, select B&W and the defaults of 204 and Dither are displayed.
Thanks for your attention.
