Hello support,

nice to see the new version of pdf x change editor. Currently there are some questions and problems.

problems/questions

1. I have often that the editor completly crashes (351) if i use the new accessibility features like tags or accessibility report. On the windows event viewer there is dislay an application hang for the exe file (the dialog pops up to wait for application, restart application or close). I don't know what problem if could be.

2. If i generate a accessibility report the report shows an error that an link element has no alternate text. If i look in the tags tree the link is an reference tag with alternate text. so the question is to how i can find out why the report shows an error?

3. There is currently a function to set alternate text to each picture on the document (same function like acrobat) is there a plan to implement this also for links or other elements than figures?

4. Is there an release date to bring the missing translations for accessibility tools to the editor?

Thank you for the reports,

1. I have not seen a report of crashes with the accessibility tools yet, so this is news to me. Could I ask you to please create a crash dump (detailed here) and send us the file generated by email (with a link to this forum post).

2. Could you please send us a copy of the document in question, so that we could investigate what is causing this error.

3. I have shown this post to our Dev team for consideration, so this may be implemented int he future, but I cannot make any guarantees at the moment.

4. Translations are performed on a per language basis by volunteer translators, as such we can never guarantee that any facet of other languages will be translated in a specific timeframe. For some languages we have already received these translation strings, and for others we simply have not yet received them.

The dump file you sent us does not appear to be a crash dump as detailed to generate from the article a sent, but instead appears to be a "process dump" taken while the application was running in perfect working order. As such there is nothing we can gleam from this file.

Can I ask you to please try this again, ensuring that you follow the "crash dump" steps in the article to setup crash dump generation, and then reproduce the crash you spoke of, and send us that file.
If the application is not truely crashing, but is instead "hanging" (stopping all actions, and becoming unresponsive, but not actually closing) then please reproduce that specific hang, and generate a process dump while that is happening, and again, send us the newly generated file.

As for your accessibility report error with that specific document, the Dev team is looking into that now, and we will followup again if we find anything of import.

Hello support,

i use the hands off method to create an crash dump file but after closing the application there is no file created. I made a little screencast. The opened document is the pdf i have send you. I click a little bitt in the document view the reading order an then the application crashed. I show you the directory where the files should stored but this is empty.

Okay with version 352 i cannot reproduce this issue. SO currently this issue is fixed and i will reopen this thread if this cause come back.

I hope thw wish for a dialog for setting alternate text for all (not figure) elements will be come true

What type of element are you specifically trying to add an Alternate Text to?
Can you please share an example with us?

What i mean is when i evaluate the accessibility of a document with the new report function. Then it can happen that the report shows an error that non figure elements (hyperlinks, annotations and so on) has no alternate text. At the report there is only a "ignore rule" but no "fix rule" entry in the contextmenu. For images there is the new wizart and for other elements there is the feature request above. But currently maybe there is an "manual" way to fix it?

Thanks for the extra information. I believe I understand what the problem is now, and indeed it looks like there is currently no tool in the Editor that will allow you to add tags to links/annotations. I have created a ticket in our internal system so that this can be investigated further:
