Feature request - jump to first scanned page after insert scanned pages
Hi,
the scan workflow with the presets is very nice.
But one thing seems odd to me.
Every other pdf tool I have tried (Acrobat, PowerPDF, Nuance) will jump to the first scanned page after the scan, but PDF Xchange doesn't do that.
The workflow is like this:
- open existing document
- insert pages from scanner
- because PDF-Xchange remembers the previous location of the scanned page, it's a one click operation to repeat the scan (very nice)
And once the scan is done, I want to look at the result of the scan. (was it skewed? colors, fuzzy, etc)
Now, every other tool makes that very easy: it jumps to the first scanned page so I can quickly check if it worked.
Not so PDF-Xchange. Nothing happens in the display.
If I want to check the results of the scan, I first have to find the first scanned page.
And the scan dialog allows to put that page anywhere in the doc.
So I now have to remember that it was "after page 13"?
Or even if I appended it to the end, I have to remember how many pages were scanned, so I count backwards from the end?
.... all very cumbersome... costing time, costing efficiency
Why not just jump to the first scanned page after inserting a scanned page? Much more natural behaviour.
thanks.

Re: Feature request - jump to first scanned page after insert scanned pages
Hi,
It's been a while since it sounded like this was being looked at...
Every time I install an update I'm still hoping that the "jump to first scanned page" would be implemented... so far no luck.
Or maybe it 's already there, an option buried in some feature setting somewhere, like the "save as optimized file location and filename" were?
Has it made it onto the roadmap yet?
thanks

Re: Feature request - jump to first scanned page after insert scanned pages
Hello scan_user,
I am afraid that it has not made it in yet, and while it is not on the roadmap, there is now a formal feature request for it. Sadly our ticketing system is down for maintenance right now, So I cannot provide the ticket number, but I will try to remember to pop in here and post it once the system is back up.
If I have not posted anything by Monday, by all means, bump this thread so that I do not forget completely!

Re: Feature request - jump to first scanned page after insert scanned pages
Hello again scan_user,
The ticket is as follows:
RT#4602: Jump to first scanned page after scanning
while the ticketing system is internal, you can ask any member of the support team, or ask right in this thread for an update on the progress at any time. Currently the only news I have on the process is that it has been assigned a developer, so while there is no timeline, it does look likely that it will be coming in the future.
Best regards,

Hi there,
it's been a year... may I check whether there is any progress on this feature? (RT#4602)
Is there a target release yet?
thanks

Re: Feature request - jump to first scanned page after insert scanned pages
Hello Scan_User,
There has been no new development on this recently, however the ticket is still open, and thus has not been rejected. We have been more focused on higher priority (and more heavily requested) items of late, and so minor items like this have been pushed back. If more users voice that they are interested in it, we may increase the priority on it.
Kind regards,

Re: Feature request - jump to first scanned page after insert scanned pages
Hi again Scan_User,
I just wanted to follow-up here, since there were no new updates on the ticket itself, I also sent a request to the Dev team for a further update on this, it seems that the team is actually very close to completing this currently, and it should hopefully be ready for the next build (337)!
Have a great day!

Re: Feature request - jump to first scanned page after insert scanned pages
thanks for doublechecking, Daniel!
that's exciting news
I will be sure to look for it in the next build.
If I can't find I'll check back here, maybe it's buried in some setting menu...
