Image Labels - Back Colour
When you specify a back colour the whole of the line of the page is coloured even if the text is only a few words.
I would suggest changing this so that the back colour is only applied to the custom text itself, not to the spaces to the left and right of it.

Hello Nemo,
Can you please show us a sample so that we can better understand what you have in mind?
Kind regards,
Stefan

Hi Nemo,
are you referring to the yellow at the bottom of the page? Either side of the note about scanning?

Re: Image Labels - Back Colour
How did you make that? I see both a Text object and a path. The text itself does not carry any background, it is transparent. The yellow that shows is from the path object, not the text.
You can change the colour of that path background, or the colour of the text, but the text itself has only a transparent background.

Paul,
Below shows the panel I used to create this.
To my mind the back colour should just be behind the actual text (not the whole line) so that it looks like a "label".

I see what you mean.
Let me bring that up with some of the guys here and see what the general consensus is on that.

Re: Image Labels - Back Colour
The Image Labels panel has paragraph options (for indentation, line spacing, etc.) and font options but seemingly no way to constrain the back colouring to a certain width and prevent it extending right to the page edges, left and right.

Hi, Nemo
We have spoken with the Dev team on this matter, and unfortunately it will not be changing. This function does not place the text over your image, it adds space below the image to apply the text, which would result in a much worse appearance by all accounts: Due to this, we will have to reject this feature request.
Kind regards,

Hi Daniel
I don't understand what you are saying. Your second sentence combines a "does not" with a "would" and I can't understand what you are saying. Can you clarify?

Hi, Nemo
My apologies for the confusion, What I meant there is:
This function currently does not place the text over your image, it adds space below the image to apply the text. Making the change you have suggested would result in a much worse appearance by all accounts.
That is because instead of the added space a single color, you would see large white bars on the sides of it, it would not be a "clean" solution like you are looking for.
The Dev team has as such, stated that this function will not be changing at this time.
Kind regards,

Re: Image Labels - Back Colour
I suppose what I would ideally like is for there to be white space not only to the left and right but also above and below - so that it has the appearance of being a "label" - a coloured rectangle on a white background.
But I can understand that ultimately this is a matter of taste.

Re: Image Labels - Back Colour
I have discovered that by using these options
it is possible to include space above and below the text like this:
If you were to make a change so that the back colour only extends as far as the text then there would be a yellow rectangle with the text, surrounded on all four sides with a white background which, to my mind, would then be a "clean" presentation.
The reason why I think this is important - if it isn't clear - is that it is important to be able to distinguish, at a glance, the original document image which has been scanned in from the label added during the scanning process, and making the label look more like a label (i.e. a paper sticky label) achieves this IMHO.
PDF X-Change Editor is the only software (that I am aware of) that has the ability to add a label on scanning. Adobe, Kofax and Fox-it don't have this facility. If you were to make this change it would be perfect -IMO!

Hi, Nemo
While I understand your reasoning, the request has already been declined, Unless we see many more users than just yourself making the same request, the outcome is unlikely to change.
As I mentioned before, this may change in the future, but for the time being, with only one person making the request, it will not likely be changing any time soon.
Kind regards,
