Hello,
I wanted to set up folder monitoring to print PDFs on different printers.
The print job starts, but is always using default printer, and not the printer and its settings defined in the workflow.
Am I missing something relevant or is this not possible?
Thank you in advance!

Re: Folder Monitoring and Printers
Hello Caldorion,
Are you specifying the desired printer through the command line, or inside a tool that you have prepared?
Can you share with us an example of the actual command/tool that you are using so that we can run some tests with the same here on our end?
Kind regards,
Stefan

Hello Stefan,
thank you for your reply!
I'm currently not onsite, but I'll be able to show you the exact configuration later.
It's nothing special. It's a cloned default print workflow, where I specified the origin folder and the print settings, to print from a specific printer and tray.
The folder monitoring monitors a specific folder and starts the created workflow.
If I click on the workflow manually, it's working fine. Only the folder monitoring uses the current set default printer on Windows.

Re: Folder Monitoring and Printers
Hello, Caldorion
After some additional test, I was able to reproduce the issue and have just reported it to the dev team, thank you for bringing this to our attention!
Hopefully we can resolve this in time for the next release, but for the time being, I am afraid that I do not have a workaround for you here, other than running the tool manually every so often to use the correct device.

Re: Folder Monitoring and Printers
Hello Caldorion,
We have successfully reproduced the behavior you reported.
It has been identified that the printer in PDF Tools is remembered only when you perform a print task after selecting a printer. Therefore, you can try choosing a preferred printer, perform some dummy printing via this tool, and then initiate a folder monitor. It might do the trick.
As Jordan mentioned, we are optimistic that the fix will be available in the nearest build.
