2) Remember last section of Properties dialog (ie. if on Save section, it should display Save section next time)
3) Add similar functionality to FinePrint. All the components seem to exist in PDF-XChange, but it's not streamlined for this purpose yet in that it requires too many steps. For example, with FinePrint I print to the FinePrint printer driver and the FP window will open up showing me a preview of the pages, and the ability to choose a layout (ie. how many pages per printed page - similar to n-UP/booklet), as well as changing the order of the print jobs (but not the page order within each print job). I can also change other things like remove graphics, add header/footer/watermark, create form and various other settings. More print jobs sent to the FinePrint driver are appended to the currently active job. I can then click the Print button to send it to the printer.
With PDF-XChange, I can do just about every thing I can do in FinePrint with the added bonus of being able to change the order of pages within each print job, but it requires more steps when using nUP or booklet as can be seen below:
a) Print 2 jobs to PDF-XChange from the browser (set to Append Current Job to Last Active Job) which sends the job to pdfSaver
b) Show pdfSaver and click Generate (which will automatically open the viewer)
c) Re-order pages as needed
d) Print to PDF-XChange again from the viewer using nUP=2 (will need to set to Save Generated PDF OR detach the job in pdfSaver)
e) in Viewer, print to Printer
With FinePrint, I would do the following:
a) Print 2 jobs to FinePrint from the browser (automatically append subsequent jobs to active job) - FinePrint window is automatically displayed.
b) Re-order jobs (not possible to re-order pages within jobs) and select 2 up printing
c) Click Print button.
Problems
- Cannot use PDF-XChange Viewer to output nUP/booklet printing direct to physical printer (ie. have to send to PDF-XChange driver first, then output to printer)
- Print job order is changed from pdfSaver, but page order changed in PDF-XChange viewer
It would be great if this process could be streamlined in PDF-XChange, as it could then be effectively used as a print manager (plus I could remove FinePrint and just use PDF-XChange
