Post by Tobile »

Good morning,

the result from a pdf print from Edge looks looks like this:
pdfxchange_print.jpg
What could be the cause?

Thanks

Hello Tobile,

I presume you were using "File -> Print" inside Edge. When you do that - edge would send text as curves/vector objects to the 'printer' instead of as text with font information as this ensures that it can guarantee the letters would look as on screen. And if you are printing to paper you would not usually be able to zoom in text as much as on your screenshot, and with the ink drops merging together - there are not so sharp edges even if you e.g. use a magnifying glass.

The solution is to ask our Editor to do the conversion.
You can drag and drop HTML files over the Editor and it should convert them to PDF with the text remaining smooth.
If you have the Pro package - you should then also have this options inside Edge:
image.png
image.png (12.95 KiB) Viewed 2330 times
That should allow you to one again convert pages to PDF files with the text remaining smooth.

Kind regards,
Stefan

Hi Stefan,

Thank you for the excellent explanation. That should probably be the problem.

Unfortunately I can't reproduce this on my PC, which is managed by my company, which means no addons, no pdfxchange...

I will test this on my home computer.

But there is another question here:
Why is there no addon for Firefox???

Regards

Hello Tobile,

Glad I could do the above! :)

As for why no FFox add-on - I believe the way add ons for Edge are developed is quite different than FFox.
I believe in the past we had some integration with FF but due to changes to the code on their side - it becase impossible to continue offering that:
