How to print only visible layers in a PDF?

Post by Codeus »

Hello,

I have a PDF file with multiple layers, and everything displays correctly. I can hide specific layers without any issues when viewing the document. However, when I try to print the PDF, all layers are printed, even the hidden ones. I would like to print only the visible (enabled) layers, but I can’t seem to find a way to do this.

Is there a setting or method to ensure that only the visible layers are printed?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello Codeus,

Welcome to the Forum.

You can select when a layer will be printed from the selected layer properties ( Ctrl + ` ) :

The default value for print is "Always" but you can change it to "When visible" to ensure that the layer visibility is taken into account when printing.

Thank you for the response!

However, I’m using a German keyboard, and the keyboard shortcut (Ctrl + `) for opening the layer properties doesn’t seem to work. Is there another way to access the layer properties to control the print settings for each layer?

I appreciate any guidance on this!

Hi, Codeus

There are a few ways to open the "Properties Pane".

From the "Options Menu":

From the "View" ribbon:

and with certain Tools like the "Select Comments" tool a Properties button should appear on the "Format" tab:

Does that help?
