Display document tabs on Left or Right?

Currently after opening enough documents, we have to scroll left and right.
Also we need to hover to know the full file name as it would show just 1 or 2 letters of the file name.

Is there an option to show these tabs as a list on the left of right side of the screen vertically?
If not, please consider. This would tremendously help to switch among the documents easily.
