Dynamic stamps not visible Duplicated pages sync changes done to paths (stroke color)

Do paths have some ID I don't see? The same way that form fields are synced with each other if they have the same name?

Last 3 pages in the PDF

I guess you're not supposed to duplicate pages... when creating new dynamic stamps....

Can you insert new blank pages and copy over though? Is that better?

Does it matter whether the page you insert is first or last in the PDF-file (stamp collection)?

edit:
2) Please check out this 2nd file.

the last 3 pages are not visible, when I changed other stamps the stamp names were kept when importing, and the dynamic properties also stayed, BUT no matter what I do the last 3 pages (stamps) don't appear in my collection.

What'¨s up with that?

Hello, MedBooster

Paths do not have any system in place to associate one to another like Fillable form fields would, no. Each path is a distinctly separate oject form one another.

I don't mean to be blunt, but I'm fairly certain I have stated this 3 or 4 times in reply to your recent posts... No, you should not do any direct page manipulation of stamp files at all. This includes, inserting, duplicating, deleting, resizing, cropping, etc.
I think this answers the remaining questions in your post, but to be very clear. This is not working becuase there is special metadata present in stamp files/pages which cannot be manipulated through any standard PDF actions.

The only way to influence these items and add stamps to a collection is by using the "create stamp" actions through the Editor UI. This does mean you MUST create a non-dynamic version of the stamp first, or use the "new custom stamp" tool, to add a stamp to the collection before opening the stamp file for later adding/editing of the fields/JS that is present.

There is no way around this limitation of the special Stamp data that the document needs in order to function.

Yes thank you
Sorry if I was repeating myself, or making you repeat yourself, but there is a lot to keep track of with how you can/can't edit dynamic stamps.

I have now understood the main things being that you can't reorder pages, and you can't duplicate....
The goal of this thread was more to find out what specifically you can't duplicate... the pages you can't... buuuut

I can add new pages (to the bottom of the PDF stamp collection document with the dynamic stamps –––– andcreate new dynamic stamps in the collection with NEW shapes, form fields etc......
But I guess considering your previous instructions you might advise against this as well?

Basically, although you can't duplicate pages (unfortunately), can you just create new empty pages at the bottom and try and copy over the information? Will this basically add the stamp?

Regarding your very last post, to my knowledge, it is not possible in any way to merge two disparate Dynamic-Stamp PDF files. The process of creating the stamps, and why it is so important to extract and directly utilize the originally created Stamp file is because there is document specific metadata included in the stamp document that is not present in a normal PDF.
By Extension, it should be noted that any modification/insertion of the pages, page positions, etc, should NEVER be done in a Stamp file, as it could damage that metadata, and render your stamps unusable. This data cannot be carried over or modified through normal PDF editing processes. As such, you will need to manually add the non-dynamic content to the stamp.
This process would include:
  1. Create stamp from file > Choose the collection you plan to move into another, note that the dynamic content WILL be removed.
  2. Choose the target collection you wish for those pages to be added to.
  3. Proceed with normal dynamic stamp editing processed, copying the dynamic content items from the original stamp, into the new one.
**IMPORTANT - If any of your stamps used a Stamp ID to limit when its JS runs, you WILL need to update that, as the stamp ID has changed in this process. If you simply copy/paste the field without editing the JS to use the new ID, your JS will not execute.

So it is quite challenging ... the question of adding *existing* dynamic stamps from one collection to another...
Do you have any guide on this in the PDF-XCE manual? because I have been able to do it in the past, it's just still unclear how I did it, because it was just trial and error on my end...

Hello, MedBooster

You are correct, I would not recommend adding a new page to the Stamp (Adding a new blank page is still "inserting" a page which is on the list), as before, there is special metadata that cannot be added to the file when editing in this way. Even if it sometimes works, it may be missing something important and lead to other problems later on.

As for your later question of adding existing dynamic content to an existing stamp. No, this is not possible.

The only way we offer to add an existing stamp to another stamp collection, is to manually add in the static content, via the Editor UI, and then open both stamp collections for editing, copy ONLY the dynamic content over, and double check/correct any necessary items in the JS, such as the stamp ID.

Thank you for clarifying
(again sorry if I am repeating myself here)

1) If you import stamps through a PDF-XCE setting backup file,
you aren't able to edit dynamic stamp content? (after copying the stamp collection file out of the appdata folder of course)
e.g. editing form fields or moving around shapes or text? As long as you don't insert/duplicate pages etc...

2)
So in order to edit and customize dynamic stamps in a dynamic stamp collection you basically need to have the original file with the form fields BEFORE they have been placed in the appdata stamp folder?

3)
Would you then consider opening a ticket for a way to "strip" the metadata of the stamp collection?

So that you could copy over a stamp collection from the appdata folder to a local folder on your disk, edit existing stamps and add news, and then move it back into the appdata folder?
Would that be something to consider for possible future improvements?

THank you sooo much for your explanations!
The manual was also good for clearing up some doubts

What about changing existing dynamic content (form fields), or moving around shapes and static text, that is fine, right?

Hello MedBooster,

Yes - such manipulations of an existing stamp should be fine and still keep it working as intended.
However what I tend to do when making new stamps is start with the static part of the content (logos, images etc), and then add the dynamic elements (form fields, JS Code) once the stamp collection has been created by the Editor already.

Kind regards,
Stefan
