Hello netsonicyxf,
Open the bookmarks pane, and then check whether this option has been turned on: As it might be the reason why your bookmarks are always expanding.
Kind regards,
Stefan

Re: The bookmarks always expand, how to set it to "always collapse"
Hello Stefan,
Thank you. But this option is not the cause. The initial condition of the bookmark is "expanded" when you open the PDF, so I want PDF-XChange Editor to have a new option in its bookmarks tool, this option will allow user to set the initial condition of the bookmark to "collapsed".

Hello netsonicyxf,
Do you mean to set the file to always collapse the bookmarks, in any PDF Editor/Viewer?
Or to set the PDF Editor to always open the file with the bookmarks collapsed?

Hello netsonicyx
I am not exactly sure which one you have in mind but it is not possible to make the file collapse the bookmarks in any PDF viewer automatically.
What you can control is making the file to open the Bookmarks pane:
However, this will work only if this is enabled in all of the PDF viewers:
..and these options are disabled:
As for the PDF Editor itself, the default Bookmarks state is collapsed.
To make it stop them from automatically expanding, you have to disable this option:
Regards.

Re: The bookmarks always expand, how to set it to "always collapse"
Hi all,
To me it seems like the bookmarks tree (in PDF-XChange Editor - build 392) is shown like it was during the last save of the PDF.
So, if you should first "Collapse All Bookmarks" and then save, the problem would be solved (for that specific document).
In the Bookmarks pane > Options... there is indeed an option for "Automatically Expand Bookmarks", but none for "Automatically Collapse Bookmarks". Maybe that would be good for a feature request ?
Kind regards.

Hello all,
I have been quietly following this topic and have the same impression as Willy.
Regarding feature requests, netsonicyxf has posted the following in the past.

Hello rakunavi, Willy,
Thanks for your comments here!
I am afraid that the "Auto collapse" feature request has not yet been approved, and I do not know if it ever would be.
Kind regards,
Stefan
