Hello,
I'm a happy PDF-Xchange customer. I'm wondering how best to use the tool to remove text that appears on multiple pages.
If I use the Document - Redaction - Find and Redact options, and set
Redact found text
Overlay Type: Standard
Redaction color: None
Objects text -- either "Delete found text" or "Replace text with"
nothing in the box,
my text is indeed deleted.
HOWEVER, my text is replaced with white blocks. I can't find a way to just delete the unwanted text and leave the original background.
If it makes a difference, this text is added to the page as a Text element.
Thank you.
How to delete text and leave no redaction mark?

Re: How to delete text and leave no redaction mark?
Hello, taosecurity
You you have a few options here. When using the "redact" tool, it is intended that the text is not repositioned, and a "block" is left in that location. What you can do to keep the old background color, is change the block color to "none" here: Alternatively, reading between the lines, it sounds like you are instead wanting the text to "reflow" around these removed/replaced terms? If that is the case, we offer a standard "Find and Replace" function which is accessible with the "find" tool (Ctrl_F) simply open this tool, then click the small arrow on the left to open the replace menu: If you leave the "replace" field empty, like in my screenshot, you are able to remove the found words entirely, and have the rest of the nearby text shuffle into place, without leaving a blank rectangle.
Kind regards,

Re: How to delete text and leave no redaction mark?
Hello,
Thanks for the fast response!
As I noted in my post, I'm already using the "None" option and I still get white blocks.
Can you try the feature on a document that does not have a white background and see how it works for you?
I'm using 10.4.4 by the way.
BUT!!! the simple "find and replace" works perfectly. I can use that. Thanks!
Sincerely,
Richard

Re: How to delete text and leave no redaction mark?
Hello, taosecurity
That is expected if your document has any background at all, redaction is designed to completely remove all content (background colors are included as "content"). The "none" setting means that instead of placing a rectangle of color in that location, it will leave a transparent block there, so you can print on colored paper if necessary without there being a "block" of something added in there.
