PDF-XChange Editor Plus
10.2.1. Build 385 (Enhanced OCR)
Default Engine working fine.
Enhanced Engines has no language in the drop-down field even though languages are installed.
I have de-installed and reinstalled the PDF-XChange Editor without any change.
I removed the languages in the folder and the software detected that and allowed to reinstall the languages.
But the drop-down menu showed "None installed"
There were posts about this issue before but no reproducible approach to solve the issue.
E.g. viewtopic.php?t=37311
Often the issue vanished.
Anyone has an approach or hint where to look? Registry Entries?
Enhanced OCR-Engine show no installed languages

Re: Enhanced OCR-Engine show no installed languages
Hello, jexen
We are still trying to nail down possible causes for this issue. To start, did you launch the Editor in a different way than usual when this happened? For example, did you maybe open a PDF by clicking a web link or opening a mail attachment? if so, what application did you open that file through to launch the Editor.
After that, some users have seen the issue vanish after a simple restart, did you try that since your reinstalls? (I hope so, as reinstalling without a restart is prone to exacerbate issues, instead of fixing them in many cases) If not, please do so now and let me know if that helped at all.
Finally, if that did not work, we may need to arrange a remote session to see what else can be done. Could I ask you to email Support@PDF-XChange.com, so we can plan a connection with the Devs?
Kind regards,

Re: Enhanced OCR-Engine show no installed languages
So, this just happened to me today with Enhanced OCR Plugin. When I click on Convert => OCR Page(s), Languages says "None Installed" even though I already have English installed and the "OK" button is also grayed out. In my case, I am out of luck. The tech support said:
In this case, the solution will unfortunately be to renew your license, gaining access to the latest releases. This is a case caused by a windows 10/11 update, that added a new "global debugging" feature, which has caused some havoc with a number of older applications. Our Newer applications are configured to properly make use of these changes.
You can renew your maintenance from your account page here at any time: https://www.pdf-xchange.com/login
As before, please do a complete uninstall and restart of the old version. When you install the new release (10.4.4), a second restart should not be required this time.

Hello, BELLFLOWER
Thank you for sharing this, I hope that the information here can help others to understand why we are unable to provide a solution in the older builds. As always, one of the key benefits of keeping maintenance active is to get new features and bug-fixes, regardless of whether those bugfixes are for issues within our own code, or bugs that arise later on due to external influence, such as windows updates and their own new "features".
Kind regards,
That Tech support was me!BELLFLOWER wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 10:44 pm The tech support said:
