Reading a document while doing OCR forbidden

Post by Antoniojacket »

the user cannot read the document while OCR is being performed. The bigger the document the longer the time the user has to wait until he can read it. :?
It forces me to open another instance of a different brand pdf viewer while doing ocr in the main app to be able to read the document. a practice i am allergic to since using PDF-Xchange :) .
Is there a way to circumvent the problem without opening another instance of the other brand app?

Hello, Antoniojacket

This is something that we are working on. Allowing most other reading actions while performing OCR in the same application will significantly reduce the speed of the OCR process, leading to extended delays in an already very lengthy process. For now, this limitation will remain until we are able to find a middle ground that allows both without severely impacting the performance.

Hi Daniel,

My suggestion for this is to add a Priority option in the OCR window.
- Low : allow reading actions and reduce the speed of the OCR process
- High : forbid reading actions and max the speed of the OCR process

Maybe there's no need of Auto / Medium like shown bellow

Thanks for considering this,

Hello, Loki@99

That is one option we have looked at, do not worry, the Dev team is working on this, but it is a long term, highly complex prospect, and it will take some time to arrive.
