Re: Duplicate Tab
Hello dwg11,
The Viewer's development stopped over 12 years ago, and as far as I remember - no it was not possible to duplicate tabs in it.
In the Editor you can right click on the tab and select the Duplicate option from the context menu that will appear though: Kind regards,
Stefan

Re: Duplicate Tab
OK thanks however Have the issue with Editor, in terms of open tabs, which are arranged automatically, see:

Re: Duplicate Tab
Hello dwg11,
May I ask for clarification about what your goal is?
How/where do you want your duplicate tab to be opened?

Re: Duplicate Tab
Hi, my goal is as follows:
Typically have many documents open.
The main 2 requirements are:
1. Locate tabs easily. PDF-XChange Viewer is much better at this compared to the Editor (which sorts alphabetically). also you can see the thumbnail image which makes it a lot easier to recognise the document you need to get to.
2. Duplicate tabs. So you can read one part on first/main window and use second window to read another part of the document. Unfortunately the Viewer doesn't have this option.
Both programs are good, but ideally need to sort as per the order of documents (not alphabetical) and duplicate tabs. Viewer can do the first only, Editor can do the second only.
Edit: The new window is ideally next to existing window.

Re: Duplicate Tab
1) Options that where available in PDF-XChange Viewer should have more chance to re-appear in PDF-XChange Editor.
See your other topic: viewtopic.php?t=45133
2) Instead of using "Duplicate Tabs", I would prefer Split > Vertical Split (or Horizontal Split) in the View-ribbon of PDF-XChange Editor.
Don't you think so ?
Kind regards.
Willy

Re: Duplicate Tab
Hello Willy Van Nuffel,
Dimitar will be making the FR ticket for the other topic, and while we did try to move as many as possible, some Viewer features stayed with the Viewer.
Also - the UI is customizable so dwg should be able to place those split commands in other parts of the UI other than the default "Split" one as well: Or did I misunderstood what you wanted to convey?
Kind regards,
Stefan

Re: Duplicate Tab
I just wanted to say that "Vertical Split" would be a better option than "Duplicate Tab" to see two different places of the same document at the same time.
Kind regards.

Re: Duplicate Tab
Hello Willy Van Nuffel,
Ahh! Thanks! Now it's clear.
And yes that is also a good option, and both of them have their uses - so up to dwg to use the one that better suits their workflow!
Kind regards,
Stefan

Hello, dwg11
in that case, yes, I am sorry to say that the Viewers development was discontinued over a decade ago, so it is rather out of date in a few areas, and will not be seeing new updates.

Re: Duplicate Tab
OK thanks, understand
Both programs are good in my opinion but the Viewer was better in a lot of ways, hopefully some capability is transferred to the Editor in future update

Re: Duplicate Tab
Hello, dwg11
In the decade since the viewer was discontinued, we have listened catrefully to feedback and brought back some of the most popular functions which are possible to bring back. Some are simply impossible to offer due to modern development constraints or changes to the specification over the years, but the remainder are very likely items which were a bit too "niche" to be worth the development and maintenance time in the future.
If you have specific items in mind, like you mentioned in another post I recently replied to, please do feel free to check the forums for others asking about those functions, or post a new thread for others to chime in on. If there is enough demand, we will of course consider some items again, but by the same token, if there is not enough demand, it is very likely those items will not be returning.
Kind regards,
