PDF-Xchange Editor V5.5 Build 315
Description of issue/request: Feature request to obey Windows "hide scrollbar" setting
There is a Windows setting "Always show scrollbars". When using a touch device, this is an essential feature because it hides the scroll bars such that a palm can't activate the scrollbars unintentionally (which almost always happens since palm check doesn't work at the side of a screen). It also allows the scrollbars to reappear when the mouse (or stylus) moves near the scroll bar or the mouse is over the window.
Hiding the scrollbars is what makes other PDF viewers like Drawboard and Xodo and Onenote work well with styluses.
Alternatively, change the setting "Automatically switch to Pencil or Eraser tool with Stylus" to "Stylus Detection" (and enable this as a default setting!!). When "Stylus Detection" is ticked, get PDF Exchange Editor to do the following:
1. Automatically switch to Pencil or Eraser tool with Stylus (existing functionality)
AND
2. Hide scrollbars and keep them hidden until mouse is moved (unless stylus is hovering near the edge of the screen) (currently a very difficult to access command line option)
AND
3. Enable "Exclusive Mode" for both "Hand tool" and "Pencil tool" (currently very difficult to enable because it involves multiple clicks in a particular order i.e. Pencil tool > Exclusive Mode).
Thanks for your consideration - if you manage to get this feature added then by default PDF-Xchange Editor will be full stylus capable!!

Re: Feature request to obey Windows "hide scrollbar" setting
+1 for that.
I don't see this as a definitive solution for unintentional scrollbar click but it will improve the touchscreen experience as well.
That issue as been raised a long time ago. Hopefully it get some priority.

You can pin Exclusive Mode like this so that's it's a one click action.3. Enable "Exclusive Mode" for both "Hand tool" and "Pencil tool" (currently very difficult to enable because it involves multiple clicks in a particular order i.e. Pencil tool > Exclusive Mode).

Re: Feature request to obey Windows "hide scrollbar" setting
Hello,
@Echan101, Thank you for the suggestion, As loki says, there are already some items in relation here on the go. I do not expect that we would incorporate multiple different options, as that would just lead to confusion, so this would likely come down to one or the other. As such, I am adding this alternative to the existing ticket mentioned in the threads loki linked:
RT#5926: Improve touch scrollbar handling
It is worth noting however, your report claims you are on version 5.5. This is over a decade out of date and as such, we will not be able to deliver your request to that version. When/if this change is implemented you will need to update to the latest release to take advantage of it.
Kind regards,
