Hello all,
Frequently, PDFs embedded within Microsoft Office applications are attached as specific program file types, such as Acrobat in fimr of Acrobat documents. Although these are standard PDF files by nature, they often cannot be easily opened without Adobe Acrobat.

Re: Opening Acrobat Document files embedded in Microsoft Office applications using PDF-XChange
Hi, DawidB
that is interesting. I am aware of the hard coded file association, but was unaware there may be a way around it. I will ask the devs to take a look at this and let us know if it is something we can do or not.
cheers

Hi, Paul - PDF-XChange
the team have agreed to look into what can be done here. I have raised a formal feature request around this, and while intended for internal use only, should yo are about RT#7559: Feature Request :: Editor :: Option to open Office embedded PDFs directly in the Editor here then any support staff member should be able to get you an update.

Re: Opening Acrobat Document files embedded in Microsoft Office applications using PDF-XChange
Hi Paul,
we are also interested in this feature being implemented. Is there an approximate timeframe for when the development team will decide whether it can be implemented?
We are currently in the process of replacing all instances of Adobe Reader with PDF XChange. Some users are now unable to open their embedded documents. All my attempts to change the registry so that embedded documents open with PDF XChange were unsuccessful.
I welcome any suggestions of what I could try in the meantime.

Hello KarinaR,
Welcome to our Forum.
The ticket status shows that a developer has been assigned to the case, which means it won't be long before you see this feature available in our product.
