Printing big number of documents
We use a Tool that use PDF-Xchange 4.160 as the print driver in Citrix based WTS Server environment. The tool sends printing orders after one another to PDFXchange, which uses automatic numbering to keep the printing order in memory. In case of few printing orders to PDF Xchange, it works fine. When the tool send big number of documents (between 60 and 200), the pdf xchange memory seems to overflow and it gets freezed. After this the whole WTS environment becomes very slow. Manual cancelling the order is no more possible. The only way is to close the session and relogin to systems again. This happens sporadically. The same function has worked with PDFXchange 3 without any problems. Therefore the question, if this issue is known? How could it be resolved? Thanks in advance.

Re: Printing big number of documents
Hello asimm,
The latest driver build is 167, is it possible that you run some tests with it?
I will also draw the attention of the guys responsible for the driver to this topic so they can check as well.
Regards,
Stefan

Also - you may want to look at the option to 'auto Unload' PDFSaver4.exe ..
from the help file/manual :
· Autounload pdfSaver after: If checked, after the specified timeout (in minutes) the pdfSaver
module of the PDF-XChange driver will unload. This ensures that the minimum necessary
memory is in use at any time - this is only necessary where multiple users may be using
PDF-XChange on a single PC, Server or Citrix/WTS system at a given time as the resources
used are minimal - but could be collectively quite large in such a system as described above.

ok, the Autounload switch is to be used during the installation of the software. As i checked the install.bat file, this switch is already used. Any other idea?

Re: Printing big number of documents
Hi asimm,
you should find a shortcut to PDFSaver in your start menu. Run it and look at the "Settings" tab. There is a place there where you can set the time it runs after a print job. "Autounload pdfsaver after: [x] minutes"
this is also all documented in the help file/pdf manual provided - always a good place to start ...

Re: Printing big number of documents
Hi Paul,
Thanks for the informations.
We tried activating the "Autounload pdfsaver after..."option under Settings in the pdfsaver but as soon as the process "pdfsaver.exe" is killed or the user logs out and then login, this setting is lost. How can this setting be saved (registry key settings)?

Re: Printing big number of documents
Provided this is set via the control panel with applciations closed - this will become permanent - or if you wish to set when first installing - it can be set using the silent install parmameters and or 'Profiles' create/export - import option.
Please see the help file for further info.
