Search returns results from hidden layers

Search returns results from hidden layers
When I do a search results are returned from layers that are turned off/hidden. I do not like this since I am getting a lot more results than I want. Is there a way to turn this off. The original file was created in Adobe 6. I am using PDF Exchange Viewer Pro v2 build 51.0
