Hi, we try to automate the installation of pdfxchange update using a batch file but the MSI process just breaks at the very first option /VERYSILENT with display of MSI commands format. Could you pls examine the following batch file to see where the problem is:
[msiexec /i "pdfxcpro_x64.msi" /VERYSILENT /NORESTART /COMPONENTS="pdfSaver,PDF-XChange driver,Help,Languagess" /DIR="D:\APPS\pdfexchange\" "/Key:xxxx-whatever.." "/Organization:whatever.." "/AutoUnload:02" /L]
2. The second question is that as mentioned in the knowledgebase article, a user customized profile can be saved to a file which can be used for companywide deployment. "when using our MSI installer - you will need to use an '.ini' file to aid in the installation of a 'Profile' as MSI based installers embed the required detail in this manner." Could you pls provide us with an example of how this ini file may look like?

Re: automatic installation using msi
Hi,
1: The options you are trying to set in part 1 of your topic are formatted for use with the 'exe' based installer - not the MSI installer - please see this KB article on using the MSI installer and what switches are available - :
https://www.pdf-xchange.com/knowledgebase/149
Or perhaps better - use the exe installer ...
2: Shortly we will update the KB article for the MSI installer to include an example 'ini' should you wish to proceed to use and MSI installer - this will take approx 1-2 hour's then see here pls :

Re: automatic installation using msi
Hi asimm,
I have updated that article to include the use if .ini files. I also removed the list of switches that were there because they had been pulled from the manual and were out of date. The msi itself includes a help file off all the current switches (see article https://www.pdf-xchange.com/knowledgebase/149). It is better to use this than a static list as it is sure to match the msi you are using.
Let me know if I can help further.

Re: automatic installation using msi
I have tried to use the msi with the ini file following the instructions per the links above, but it seems to be ignoring the ini file as nothing in it gets done. What might be the problem? Do you have any suggestions to try?
Using 64 bit version.
Thanks.

Re: automatic installation using msi
Please could you zip and send your .ini file to support@pdf-xchange.com with a link back to this forum post for reference - as this file may contain license info - best not to upload here in public.
We will take a look and advise back here for general reference as well as your own use once we have.
Many thanks
