Page number: Use the indexed one instead of the actual one

Post by ws2r »

For the page number box, it is possible to use the indexed page number of the file rather than the actual one?

The Page pane on the left recognises that there are pages "i", "ii", "iii" etc.
but when I entered theses numbers into the page number box, it did not work.
Similarly, the indexed page "1" also becomes page 4.

Hi ws2r,

Thanks for the post - Version 2.5 of the Viewer doesn't support Roman numerals, but the partial release of the Editor (Version 3 of the Viewer) does. Please download and install from the following link and it should do as you need:
https://www.pdf-xchange.com/PDFXVE3.zip

Hope that helps!
If posting files to this forum, you must archive the files to a ZIP, RAR or 7z file or they will not be uploaded.
Thank you.

I suppose ws2r is really talking about the 'editor' and I can only confirm that pagenumbers like i, ii, iii are not being shown.
Can it be that the parameter "Use logical page numbers" (in Edit > Preferences > Page display) is playing a role in this ?
Unfortunately, actually it is not possible to deactivate/uncheck this parameter, it always returns to 'checked' after clicking OK and re-verifying its status.

Hi Willy,

Yes it seems like this option is not working properly yet. Passing it to the devs for investigation.

Best,

Sorry, it is not implemented currently but we will add it in near future..

Thank you for the follow-up.

I'm regularly browsing the Tracker Forum and I am impatiently waiting for the next release of PDF-XChange Editor.
If your developers will succeed to resolve most of the known problems, will have written and activated some of the still missing features, and will have implemented (hopefully most of) your clients propositions and wishes, PDF-XChange Editor will be a wonderfull tool to work with (and actually it is already promising).

To all of you at Tracker Software: many thanks for this, a whole lot of good cheer, and success with the sales.
