Table displaying and printing problems

Post by pinna d.o.o. »

Hello

I am using PDF-XChange Viewer Pro SDK (2.5.211(Updated on 22 Aug 2013)), to display a pdf file in clarion application. (Clarion v. 5.5). The pdf is displayed correctly for the most of the times, but sometimes, the table-border (dashed lines), gets displayed incorrectly, meaning that the border gets really thick. When I try printing the faulty pdf, it also prints table borders too thick (so it's not just a displaying problem).
We are using Windows XP.
If I open the same pdf file that was not displayed correctly in any other PDF-reader application, the file displays correctly, so it's not the pdf file issue.

I'm attaching images, that show the correct display of pdf file and how it's displayed when something goes wrong.

This is correct:

This is how the faulty display looks like:

Thank you, I am looking forward for your reply!

Hello pinna d.o.o.,

Please try build 212 first - as this is the current latest one, and if the same problem still persists - do send us a sample file (using the Help -> Report a problem feature in the Viewer), with a link back to this forum topic, and we will investigate this further.

Regards,
Stefan

We did as you've told us, the error persists, so we also sent you an error report, as you've requested.

Thanks pinna d.o.o.,

I tested your file, but it displays fine on my end in both the Viewer and Editor. I noticed there were some errors in the XREF table reported for this file. I've "fixed" those by re-saving it so please try to open the copy I've returned to you and let us know the result.

Regards,
Stefan

Is it displayed wrong on any machine or only on some?
What is most strange is that the second image in your post shows that image is shown as B&W but not colored.

Also, can you please clarify - the problem is when the document is displayed on the screen or when it is printed ?

Thank you for all your help so far.
A reason why the second image is in black and white, is because we got a black and white - scanned document from our client (not a screen shot).
We talked with our client, who said that the error occours only when printing - displaying of the file works correctly. We apologize if we gave you wrong information about this, but it is what we got reported from our client at first.

So to sum everything together:
-We are using PrintDocument method with the following parameters PDFXCV2.PrintDocument(0, 0, 1, 1, strani#,,'Dokument'), let me also add that we are calling the method from our Clarion 5.5 application.
-Displaying of a document works fine, printing does not.

-When we found out that the problem only occours when printing a document, we did some research, and tried fixing the problem by changing the 'vector_render' parameter to false, because we were suspecting that there may be a problem with GDI interfacing a printer. However that did not solve any problem, it only made our application freeze completely (printer message was: "Printer's spooling").

- So far the problem was reported by two of our clients (not everyone reported the problem - both machines are running Windows XP)

I hope this info will help you to troubleshot the problem we're experiencing. Suggestions and ideas are more than welcome!
Thank you, we are looking forward to your reply.

On this page:

I see that there are some different kind of drivers for this printer - PCL 5e, PCL XL, PS3. Can you let me know with which printer exactly the issue is experienced ?
