Magnify glass

Post by watrout »

I've seen this in take-off (estimating) software. Gives you a window that zooms in on the document as you pass the magnifying glass over that portion of the document. Is especially nice on large page formats such as architectural prints. Easier than zooming in and zooming out until you find what you're looking for.

Please take look at "Loupe" and "Pan ana Zoom" tools in Viewer. Is this not enough?

Yes the Loupe tool is just what I wanted - sorry, should have looked a little closer at the program before requeted this enhancement.

Hi Théo,

Thanks for the post - are you looking to disable the Loupe tool permanently, or to just get rid of the Loupe tool window? If the latter, you should just be able to hit the red 'x', in the right hand corner of the Loupe tool window.

Cheers,

Hi Will,

Yes, I'm looking to disable the Loupe tool permanently ...

It's impossible to do it !!

> View > Zoom > Loupe Tool > "Loupe Tool and Show/Hide Loupe Pane" -- > never in "black" 'Show/Hide Loupe Pane" ! ... always in "grey" !

Thank you to tell me how to disable it otherwise.

Hi Théo,

I'm not sure of the sub-menu that you're referring to. This isn't something that is present in our Viewer or Editor.

As for disabling the Loupe tool itself, this isn't something that is possible. The only suggestion that I can make, would be to go to View --> Toolbars --> Customize Toolbars, where you can then remove menu entries.

Hi Will,

I have PDF Xchange Editor / version 3.0 (Build 305.0)

I wanted to attach a sub-menu screen copy file to my reply...

... but it doesn't work ?

By customizing Zoom Toolbar, nothing changes !

Hi Théo,

This is likely because you are using an older build and UI Customization wasn't implemented until later. Please download and run the following to update and you should then be able to remove this entry from the menu:

I Will,

I bought my software on the 25 of October 2013 ...

I was in touch with you for this purchase.

Before to install the new version -- because there is a warning about that at the beginning of this installation --, I have to know if I should have to pay for this new version.

Thank you in advance for your reply.

Hi Théo,

If you purchased on October 25th, then you should still have active maintenance, so I would suggest taking a look at this KB article for detailed instructions on how best to upgrade:

Hi Will,

Thank you ...

I have the new version 5.5 (Build 308.0) ; my maintenance plan expires on 24 oct 2015.

I didn't try to use the Loupe Tool ! The sub-menu seems to be the same as on my last version ?

All the best. Théo

Hi Théo,

With the latest build, you now be able remove the menu entry with the steps that I provided previously (below again for convenience):
As for disabling the Loupe tool itself, this isn't something that is possible. The only suggestion that I can make, would be to go to View --> Toolbars --> Customize Toolbars, where you can then remove menu entries.
