when printing an autoCAD layout, the pdf file name will be "filename.pdf",
then if i print another layout of the same drawing, the pdf will have a same filename, and the previous pdf will be overwrited.
so, i hope that pdfx DO NOT truncat the layout name from printing jobs, just create a pdf like "filename - layout1.pdf".
printing from autoCAD

Hi,
Thanks for your message - however please note we do not control this - it is a limitation of the manner in which AutoCad passes the filename to Windows that causes this.
Also different versions of Acrobat pass the filename in different ways to Windows - which is also no help regarding this issue - otherwise we could probably find a consistent work around:
For example - a file is named in AutoCAD file Drawing.dwg,
when you print "Layout1" from AutoCAD 2002 the filename passed will be "Drawing Layout1 (1).pdf"
but from AutoCAD 2005 this is changed to "Drawing.pdf"
Consistency by AutoDesk would help in our quest
However you can set parameters in the Printer Preferences -> 'Save' page to ensure that 'When file exists' PDF-XChange gives the file name an 'AutoNumber' to ensure the file is not overwritten.
Hope that helps

i dont think so.
in fact the earlier versions pdfx did that.
autocad usually make a printing job name "c:\files\drawing.dwg layout1(1)"
you can just create a pdf name "drawing.dwg layout1(1).pdf", thats what i want, PLEASE.
or, for other applications, if i have two separate file "filename.DOC" and "filename.TXT", i want two pdf like "filename.doc.pdf" and "filename.txt.pdf", NOT one "filename.pdf".
so you can just simply offer an option - "dont truncate file extension", let user to make the choice.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

Please advise your AutoCAD / Windows versions.
Also - for the other point you make - we cannot do as you ask as the file extension is academic and not used - we must make the file naming where ever possible common for all apps - not just MS Word file types.

Pleased you like it
For other user's benfit when reading this post - this file (titrules.rsl) can be used to pre-configure default file naming conventions for specific applications.
However - do keep a backup of this file when updating PDF-XChange to ensure that our standard file does not over write any modifications you may make.
