Well understood, Daniel, but when the "problem" PDF file is opened in ABBYY, the Paragraph character is still resident - even if not displayed. Likewise in PDF-Exchange, within the PDF version of this file, the errant character is still sitting there - albeit still invisible.
So, a simple toggle of the character display within XChange should not break the PDF file specifications. FWIIW.... Mark-T

You may be correct, but I cannot say with certainty at this point. In any case, the Decision is in the hands of our Development team, so we will have to wait and see how they choose to handle it in the future.
