Hello docu-track99,

Is this PGP ( Pretty Good Privacy ) an external plug in which you need to install first before you can open files encrypted with it using Adobe or is it built in the default installation of their products?

Regards,
Stefan

Not a plug in. Just works with all applications except PDF-XChange Viewer. PGP is a installed program not a plug-in. Its an encryption software which gives security to files/ PDF's.

Files encrypted with PDFs can't be opened using PDF-XChange Viewer , but can be opened using Adobe.

Hi docu-track99,

my understanding of PGP is that it is typically used as a plugin. I have used it in the past for example with Mozilla Thunderbird to allow use of public/private encryption keys to secure/encrypt email. To do this a Thunderbird plugin is applied. I don't think that PGP is designed to be used with any application without some sort of plugin to manage it. I believe we would need to build such support into the Viewer ourselves to enable this as we have done with FileOpen in the Editor.

Can you describe how you use PGP with Adobe Reader? I suspect that it does indeed require a plugin of some sorts. I'm keen to hear how you use it.

regards
Best regards
