Multiple objects edit and measurement

Post by capn_buzzcut »

I'm a construction subcontractor, and in this business, blueprints are more and more being transferred by email in PDF form. I use Viewer to highlight the items that pertain to me (plumbing) on a set of plans.

It would be helpful for me to be able to select multiple markup objects and edit the properties for all of those selected. It would also be nice to say, ctrl-click and drag an object to copy it, or cut/copy and paste it.

I think this feature may be in the works, but measurement would be great too. For me, I need to measure mostly length, but many contractors need to measure area as well. Since drawings are always to a scale, it would be helpful to be able to measure scaled length. And then to extend that concept further, a cumulative measurement or running total, or maybe a length of selected markup objects would be the ultimate.

Greetings,

I am new to this forum so I apologize if I am missing something. You state that the multiple object select feature was to be included in the upcoming release but the users request was from spring 2008. I am using the most current version of PDF-XChange Viewer Pro, Version 2.0 (Build 42.8) and cannot select more than one object at a time. Please elaborate if this feature is built into the software and if so, what steps I need to follow to select multiple objects on one PDF page and paste them into another.

I also mark up architectural drawings and have found the software to be quite useful except for this limitation. It absolutely kills my productivity when I have to do a separate select => copy => paste process for each of 7 or 8 objects instead of being able to select all 7 or 8 objects => copy => paste in one step. If you can show me how to do this, you have made my day.

Thanks,
Mark

Hello Mark,

It happens sometimes that there is a feature request and we do find it reasonable and add it to the "TODO" list of tasks but then something more important comes - e.g. some bugs to be fixed, some additional features that should be developed before this one can show it's full potential etc. and there are things that do get delayed, despite our wish and promise they would be realized quickly.
It turns out that selecting multiple objects is one of those features. But rest assured we have not forgotten it and the plans are to include it in the near future.

p.s. as for your emoticon problem it's the 8 and bracket together that make a problem.
(Build 42.8 ) will be ok - note the space, and

Code: Select all

(Build 42.8)
is guaranteed to have an emoticon.

Regards,
Stefan
