Bookmark - Create Order

Post by RSMurphy »

If this setting exists I am completely overlooking it . . .

I want to see new bookmarks added to the bottom of the list and not to the top of whatever bookmark is currently highlighted.

It's a bit of an annoyance to create the bookmark then have to drag it into place. The only way I see this making sense is if I start at the end of the document and work towards the front.

Otherwise a mostly excellent program.

Hi,

Can I ask please what product you are using - it is possible to create bookmarks in both PDF-Tools and the PDF-XChange Viewer.

Many thanks

PDF-XChange Viewer Pro 2.0.36

I don't think I explained the situation clearly and that's my fault.

I can create bookmarks just fine and have no problems accessing the properties. The only issue I have with bookmark creation is that selecting the "new" button always creates the new bookmark one entry above whatever is currently highlighted. I would think it is more logical to see the new bookmark appended to the end of the existing list.

By example, here are my existing bookmarks:

Bookmark 1
Bookmark 2
Bookmark 3 <-- Currently selected
Bookmark 4

Hit the "New" button and the order now is as follows:

Bookmark 1
Bookmark 2
New Bookmark <-- Inserted here
Bookmark 3
Bookmark 4

So if I have scrolled past Bookmark 3 and wish to create a new bookmark then I must create it then drag the just created bookmark into order below #3 which follows the relative order.

Hi,

To be honest I have to agree with you - however I am afraid this change is too late to be modified in build 2.037 which is almost ready for release now - I suspect it will be 2.038 before this can be altered as requested.

Into build 0037 will be realized following functionality:
New - add bookmark followed by currently selected
Shift+New - add bookmark before currently selected
Ctrl+New - add a bookmark as a last child of currently selected (if current bookmark has no chilren, new one will be added)
Shift+Ctrl+New - add a bookmark as a first child of currently selected bookmark.

At least this is headed in the right direction. Thanks for the effort.

Perhaps build 38 will allow one to specify a default behavior. Maybe?

Thanks again guys!
