(Google Drive) Sessions - How I wish sessions would sync automatically between my two laptops

instead of having to manually export and import them.


The issue might be that they may not be able to read the same Cloud (Google Drive) location from two different laptops with the same session information.

In fact, I just tried, and even though I exported and imported the sessions manually, it is not able to find the files.

I guess it might be because the file path name could be different on different PCs... Weird though, because it is the same Google Drive account after all. e

I have not really tried with a google drive and sessions to be honest!
However - is you have that drive mapped - is it mapped under the same drive letter on the different machines?

Yes this is how it appears...

So maybe there is an issue with how PDF-XCE sessions are saved? Maybe the user name somehow affects the file path, despite it technically just being :" G:\"

You may be onto something there, either that or a slight difference in configuration, either inside the Drive app, or inside windows itself and how it handles mapped drives could be at fault as well.

Just out of curiosity, Are all of the documents present on the drive specifically, or are some of them local files? I assume you are saving the session file itself onto the drive directly, but if any of the documents are at a different location, that could cause some confusion.
Do you see any error when trying to open the session files, or is it a simple case of some of the defined files are missing?

I am on a "mirrored" sync mode, meaning that all files in the folder are actually available offline, and once I change something on my PC it gets uploaded, and once something is changed externally or saved it gets downloaded — to Google drive.

I don't get your last question, but yes my other PC isn't able to load the session, although it "technically" having the same file path it seems

My latter question was probably phrased poorly. What I meant was, does the Editor provide an error code/warning dialogue of any sort when you try to open the session on the second device? Or, does it simply fail to do anything and the Editor sits there silently without doing anything?

Regarding the file path, could I ask you to open any one of the documents which is located here on both machines. In both cases, right click on the document tab and choose the "copy full file name" option:

Then paste that into a text file from both devices. It should give the full path as the Editor (and thus sessions) would see it.

If the paths are the same, there may be some oddity in how Onedrive itself is making the files available locally that we can try to work around, but if the paths are different, I am afraid this would go beyond our ability to resolve, and you may need to look into onedrive's settings to see if you can define a meaningful path manually.

Strange and unfortunate... but I am out of ideas. Once you do have access to your other device, I would be keen to see the "Copy full file name" data that is shown for both documents.
