Add Text (base content) - Typewriter tool, Rename action should immediately invoke Touch keyboard

Hi,

When using the Add Text (base content), Typewriter tool, an extra click with touch is needed to invoke Touch Keyboard.

It would make sense to immediately invoke it after clicking/drawing a region on screen using these tools.
I mean, there's nothing else a user would do with apart from inputting text.

The same logic goes for the Rename action (Rename a bookmark or a document).

In testing with the current release on our touch devices, the on screen keyboard does seem to appear immediately for each of these items. If you are using the preview build Vasyl sent you a while back, I am just updating to test our latest nightly version now and confirm is that is still the case. I expect this could be related to the option to force the keyboard to always show or hide. If you are using that build, can you confirm that you have enabled the "auto" or "always" options there?

Hi Daniel,

The issue is reproducible with the EditorTestOSK2 test build shared by Vasyl which has the new Touch Support setting in Preferences. Switching its options to "auto" or "always" doesn't fix the issue.

I tested with the old EditorTestOSK test build and noticed that there was no issue.

I think that it's related to the fix implemented in EditorTestOSK2 for the drop down button topic and maybe the single tap to display popup notes. These two has been fixed in EditorTestOSK2.

Thank you for the new build 387 improvements and fixes. Kudos to Tracker team.

While the issue has been fixed for Add Text, Typewriter Tool, it is still reproducible when renaming bookmarks (no issue when renaming a PDF from tab though).

Could it be that the extra click is the double tap needed so that you can start the bookmark renaming process?
Would you be able to capture a short e.g. gif animation of the process on your end and then zip and upload it to this topic?

Thank you for the report, I should note that there is no need to be testing with those previous test builds, build 386 itself should be used for any comparisons now, and I will be asking Vasyl to take the test builds down shortly.

As for the bookmarks issue, I will bring this up, You will likely need to work around this until the next release, but we should be able to resolve it in time for that one.

Indeed, the issue is that build 386 wasn't able to display the Touch Keyboard on my device so I don't have any other old build to compare when it comes to a Touch Keyboard issue.

I also just noticed that it is also reproducible with the Find... feature.

Hi,

As an additionnal note, the Rename feature also doesn't invoke the Touch keyboard when renaming a page.

This action should invoke touch keyboard as well
