PDFs attach to Whatsapp for Windows instead of Xchange viewer

PDF Xchange viewer is set as my default app. In the Windows default app list it shows as such.
But Whatsapp for Windows somehow keeps hijacking the PDFs so that when I click on one a Whatsapp symbol appears instead of the pdf content.
The actual PDF icon next ot the pdf file will also change to a Whatapp iicon- even though Xchange remains the default app according to Windows. It's as if Whatsapp intercepts the association, rather than outright changing it.
Is there anything I can do to stop this?

Welcome to our forums!

If Windows thinks that our Viewer/Editor is the default PDF software - then it would indeed be some interaction on WhatsApp's side, and you would probably need to contact their support.
This is the first time I see anyone report Whatsapp as the hijacker, however IE/Edge is notorious - maybe Whatsapp uses some built in browser internally and that's causing the hijacking.
