Panel or way to only view or copy base content text?

Panel or way to only view base content text? Like in PowerPoint when you press ctrl+shift+tab (see the attached screenshot)

Is that possible?

This would be great for copying over text from multiple pages and more easily see the text content of the document (base content)

Hello MedBooster,

We have the Contents Pane (View -> Panes -> Contents), however that will show you all the base content elements including shapes/paths, and there isn't really a way to filter just the text:

Kind regards,

as long as you're able to reliably copy over the text to other programs it's fine.

Perhaps you could open a ticket/consider adding a filter option for the content pane, similar to the comments pane, to toggle what you want to show on/off of text, paths, images, etc....

Hello MedBooster,

The feature request ticket was made and send to your developers for consideration:

#7171: Editor 391: Adding filter option for the content pane

Hopefully they will see it as something useful and decide to implement it.

Regards.

+ not just adding filters, but actually also adding options to only copy text with or without formatting. E.g. ยง for square bullet points in this case:

Maybe there is a way to copy over text or export base content text to a .txt file for example that I've not discovered?

Hello MedBooster,

Those are text symbols and should copy along the rest of the text unless it is some embedded font that e.g. does not have a "toUnicode" information included (so it displays fine in the PDF, but can not really be copied/exported to another file format).

I do not believe there is currently a way to do that, and Dimitar has already made the FR ticket, so we need to now wait and see what our devs will implement in this regard.

Kind regards,
Stefan

Any updates? :) I created a new ticket for my "related" question which is actually about comments not base content:

Hello, MedBooster

While I don't see any updates on the ticket, I should ask if you have considered using "layers" for this (It is kind of their intended purpose).
You could use the "select > all" tool to select the non text "base content" items, and quickly add them all to a layer named "non-base-text", which you can then show/hide when needed. \

This can be done both for comments, by right clicking on the page after selecting them:

And then with Base content items via the options menu in the content pane:

Once each content type has been associated with the layer in question, you can then toggle it on and off:

Perhaps this will help in the meantime?

What is the best way to copy over all text from let's say page 20-50 in a 100 page document without highlighting all the text with your cursor?

JavaScript?

Or the content pane?

Hello, MedBooster

There are a few options:
1. You could activate the "select text" tool, and then press ctrl_A to select all.
2. You could also open the Content pane, and use the "options > select > text" function.

I hope it helps!

Kind regards,
