Allow OCR-text to be edited off-image

I work with old newspapers, so frequently need to edit the text created by the OCR engine due to misinterpretation of words from poor quality scans. It would be very helpful if edits could be performed 'off-image' in the Page Content Properties area.

Hello, PeeblesHistoricalArchive
Unfortunately such a feat is not possible at this time, there is no special flag that indicates text was created by OCR, and the way that "base content" text works according to the Specification, is very sensitive to such unique editing methods. I will pass this along as a prospective feature request, but I cannot promise that such an editing method is even possible to implement.
[Edit]: Good news, we do have a ticket for this item at the very least! Perhaps we will see it in the future:
RT#7268: FR: Direct edit base content text in Content or properties pane.
Kind regards,

Excellent - thanks for the update. Editing via either of the content or properties panes would be of great benefit.
Until then, I'm finding it best to leave the OCR text as 'invisible' and use double-click selection to replace the OCR text with corrected text, then check my edited input in the content window after. This way, I can still clearly see the original image text while working.
Really enjoying exploring the software and looking forward to working with the unrestricted version next pay day
