I keep running into an annoyance when I edit text and end up flattening it.
The guidelines does not work on flattened text. This is a bit annoying when trying to align things perfectly.

The other videos you can see uploaded are usually gifs.
Can you please check under preferences (Ctrl + K) -> Measurements -> Snapping... whether you have the "Cnap to guides" checkbox turned on? As with it turned on for me - I can correctly snap base content objects to guidelines I've just added to a page.
