What happened to PDF-XChange Editor (and PDF-XChange Editor Plus) version 10.7.1, build 399 (Aug 25 2025)?
It was available for download for a while, and was then suddenly pulled. Evidence of its existence was even removed from the official PDF-XChange Editor Version History page (https://www.pdf-xchange.com/product/pdf ... or/history).
Proof of its release is available via the Wayback Machine:

What's going on? What's the story?
What should all the users do who downloaded and are using PDF-XChange Editor (or PDF-XChange Editor Plus) version 10.7.1, build 399?
Does it have critical issues that require reverting to an older version?

Same question here - I downloaded and installed it, now it disappeared.
The download page now shows the older version 10.6.1.397 as last release with a NEWER date (31 Aug 2025). And it really seems to be the old version (no misnaming).
No information on this? What to do now?

Hello,
We rolled back the version as a number of clients were experiencing a crash caused by missing or damaged VC redistributables, which are provided by Microsoft. This is usually due to not keeping windows up to date, or an improper/failed Windows update process.
10.7.2 should come out in the near future with those items forcibly included in our installer to avoid that issue. For now, we wanted to mitigate the damage others might experience. If you are already on 10.7.1, and do not experience a crash immediately when opening a PDF document, than 10.7.1 is perfectly stable because you have the needed DLL's properly installed, and you can continue using that version without worry or any issues.
Kind regards,

Thanks for the explanation, Dan!
The company should post something on the download page in the interim so customers aren't confounded by the discrepancy.

Hello, prius04
This was only down for a few hours before impress noticed it, and is intended as a short for downtime (we just need to finish assembling the new installers), it is not a priority to draw attention to the removal. sadly one of our build-assembly machines suffered a windows update failure, and went into recovery mode just before the assembly process could be started, which has delayed things.
In any case, the vast majority of those using 10.7 & 10.7.1 by now should not be experiencing any issues, like yourselves, and generally shouldn't have a need to worry about it.
Any who do have issues, will currently find that the site easily allows them to roll back with the availability of 10.6.1.

Hello, Daniel - PDF-XChange
Annnd speak of the devil, 10.7.2 is now live on the server. Things should pop back into place as soon as the server has some time to proliferate, and we flick a few more switches on the backend.
