Ability to Categorize Comments

Post by chs200123 »

The ability to assign categories, which could then be grouped in the visual pane, would be an invalueable addon for this program. Although a "subject" can be created under a comments properties, it cannot be sorted or filtered in the viewing pane.

Just so I do not created any confusion, I know that you can show subject within the viewing pane, but they cannot be grouped in the viewing pane...

Hi chs200123,

Are you referring to the Comments Pane when you say visual pane, and are you requesting to be able to group those comments by subject? If you change a sticky note's subject of an annotation they get grouped by annotation type and then it sounds like you'd like them sorted by subject?

Is this a correct assumption?

Chris
If posting files to this forum - you must archive the files to a ZIP, RAR or 7z file or they will not be uploaded - thank you.

Yes and No. If I changed the subject of a highlight, as opposed to a sticky note's properties, I would like to be able to group those customized subjects within the comments pane. For example, I currently haave a very long research document I have opted to use PDF exchange instead of. Adobe. Their are two people providing input into this document by using a color coded system to identify specific issues with the material's content. Unfortunatly, aside from using colors, there is no way group a set of comments, or filter th research materials content, using a custom method that sorts by text (a custom category). The closest way to accomplish this would be to enable to ability to sort and/or group by subjects within the comments pane. If this is possible, I would be willing to beta test it.

Thank you for your time

Hello, Kexiod

I am curuious how you found a 14 year old post on this before some of the more recent ones, but yes, it is possible to organize comments by a number of variables now, simply open the Comment pane (Ctrl_M) and then click the options button to see the categorization options:

I hope this helps!
