Split/Merge - "Edit document list" - only 50% screen used

Dear support Team.

Congratulations with the new version. I do not know if it is an error or delibrately but when I merge a lot of single PDF pages and want to rearrange some pages under the "Edit document list" in the "expanded" mode, only half the screen is used to show the pages. I am not able to resize the window to use the whole screen. Also the preview window is not resizeable. If a page contains text in a small font size I am not able to see what it reads and the preview is unusable.

Hello Peter,

Can you please provide some more information or maybe better a print screen of what you are exactly seeing.

I have tried to reproduce the problem with PDF-XChange Tools V6, but I do not see it.

In the Split/Merge PDF's settings panel at the right of the PDF-Tools window, there are two different check boxes for showing additional dialog boxes (Show extended dialog for files selecting + Show dialog for manual merge), but I do not know if they are able to offer you any more help.

Thank you very much for your reply. Well. The problem regarding the preview screen is due to my Wacom pen in pen mode so I will leave that for now

But the other problem persists even if I switch my tablet to mouse mode. I have attached a screen shot. I am not able to expand the window showing the pages so it fills the whole screen by dragging the lower part of the window down as one would normally do.

Hi Peter,

There is no attachment in your post, but now I have understood what you mean.

Indeed, in the "Edit document list", the column with thumbnails of the pages can only use the upper half of the available space. I have attached a print screen where we can clearly see the phenomenon in the column in the middle.

The width of the columns can be changed without problem, and also moving the split bar below the page preview and the properties in the column at the right is working correctly.

So, I can only confirm that you discovered a problem that we kindly ask to be resolved by Tracker Software's developers.

I can also confirm that resizing the preview pane works correctly and the preview can be made quite large (provided the whole Tools Window is large enough to accommodate the big preview.
I can also confirm that the thumbnails area in the center can't fit the largest zoomed thumbnails (and in my trials even got smaller at some higher zooms), so I will pass this to the people working on the PDF Tools for review.

I do not know if my question (or call this rather a "request") has been correctly understood.

Maybe, actually it has been made "by design" that the sub-window (showing the thumbnails) in the panel in the middle, should grow in function of the size of the thumbnails that must be displayed.

I should rather like to see that the sub-window in the middle panel should immediately take the full available height of the outer window or that it would be possible to drag the bottom border of that sub-window downwards. But, actually, that is not possible.

I hope I explained it clearly enough.

Thanks for the posts - I'm afraid that this cannot be done. This blank section is a repository for documents during split and merge operations:


This allows you to choose what pages are added to the various documents, during the split. Without that, it wouldn't be possible to do this

Hi All,

Just got an update from a colleague from the dev team.
He told me that for build 317.1 we have made some improvements in respect of that window. Things changed include an improved behaviour of the embedded page-lists. The height is now calculated in a better and more user friendly way. It depends on the current zoom level and current count of pages now.
