I am using the FREE features of PDF-XChange Editor: 6.0.317.1
According to
https://www.pdf-xchange.com/pdf-xch ... ison-chart
and
https://www.pdf-xchange.com/product ... nge-editor
PDF-XChange Editor can do these:
Extract PDF Page/File, text content to a text file etc (no OCR capability)
Extract Content from PDF to Text/Image/PDF formats
But I cannot find the step by step instruction to use such feature.
Please advise.
Thanks a million.

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the post - this information is available in our manuals:
https://help.pdf-xchange.com/EUM/de ... skin=6EDIT
Page extraction is found under the Document menu and you can export to images via the File --> Export menu. Extraction to *.txt is not possible with the Editor, except by using Copy/Paste, so I'm not sure why that's listed.
Also, please be aware that the Extract Pages feature is not free and requires a license to use, otherwise your document will be watermarked.
Thanks,

Thanks for answering.
I am disappointed to hear the FREE feature does not allow extracting text (no OCR).
It seems that claim is being repeated all over the internet simply because it is on your web pages.
I hope your marketing department would do something to remove that unsubstantiated claim.
Thanks a million.

Re: How to use free PDF-XChange Editor to extract text from
Hello bobdouble,
Our OCR tool is available free for use.
Document -> Extract pages does something completely different. It takes whole PDF page(s), and creates a new document from them. It does not just extract the text into another file format.
You can use the OCR free of charge, then use the text selector tool to copy the text and paste it in e.g. a notepad file if you like - completely free of charge.

Re: How to use free PDF-XChange Editor to extract text from
If it goes about a particular PDF-XChange Editor feature to save or to export a PDF into a text file, I think that such a feature does not actually exists.
But there is no problem to extract the text from a PDF - via PDF-XChange Editor - by a feature that is common to almost all Windows applications.
This is:
- select all the text in the file (right click and Select All).
- click the Copy icon in the ribbon/toolbar or click Edit > Copy via the Menu bar
- start/run Notepad
- click Edit > Paste (or press CTRL + V on the keyboard)
Best regards.

Hi Willy,
That's correct - no such feature exists and this entry has been removed from the features list.
Cheers,
