Convert to pdf shell extension

Post by JNDallace »

I often create pdf's from scanned images (after the fact). I use a shell extension in Acrobat that allows you to "Convert to Pdf" or "Combine files" with a right-click on one or more files from Windows Explorer. This is a huge time saver. Can this be done in any of the Tracker offerings? If not, any chance of this being added?

Hello JNDallace,

Actually, this is possible with the latest release of PDF-XChange Editor (V6.0 B318.0). However, there is currently an issue with these shell extensions which causes the right click> Open with sub-menu to become inoperative. We will be releasing build 318.1 soon which will fix this issue. There is a workaround for this issue in the following topic: https://forum.pdf-xchange.com/ ... ck#p104737

HTH!

Thanks for the quick reply. Glad to hear about inclusion of the shell extension. I read about the issues with b318 while researching for my post. How does the shell extension get installed, is it an option on the main setup screen?

Hello JNDallace,

The Editor can be installed without the shell extensions by choosing "Custom Installation" and selecting to not install the shell extensions.

I hope this helps!
