"Connecting to Page.." when opening PDFs on Shares

Post by zylex »

Hi,

when I open a PDF on a Windows-Share PDF-XChange-Editor waits for at least 20 Seconds while displaying the Message "Connecting to Page.." (see Screenshot). This only occurs with Version 322.5. Downgrading to Version 320.1 for example solves the Problem and the PDFs on the Shares will again open immediately. Also opening files with Adobe Acrobat or PDF-XChange-Viewer is OK.

Any ideas on this?

Seems to be a known problem with the SharePoint plugin:

Disabling the SharePoint plugin should be a workaround, still for build 322.5

Hello Zylex,

If you have the time and are willing to help us investigate why this is happening - you can turn on logging for the share point plug-in, generate a log file, send that to us, and then turn logging off again.

The steps to do the above are these:
1. Verify that you are at build 322.5
2. Open Win+R > regedit.exe > create/find key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Tracker Software\PDFXEditor\3.0\Debug > create/edit value "SPLog" type "DWORD", value "2".
3. Start Editor with SP plugin enabled.
4. Do the testing (open files from slow share several times without closing Editor)
5. Close Editor.
6. Get log file: Win+R > %TEMP% > find and send us file "PDFX-SharePoint.log"
7. Change value of "SPLog" from step 1 to "0" or remove the "SPLog". (to stop the logging process when it won't be necessary)

Once we have the log file - we will investigate it to see why it is slowing down the opening of your files!

Regards,
Stefan

No Problem, I'll send the Logfiles to "support@pdf-xchange.com".

When I open another file while PDFXEditor is running, the delay only occurs with the first file, so I made two Logs (opening only one file, and opening 3 files).
