Cannot save New Document
Ever since the latest upgrade, I have been unable to combine files with PDF Xchange using Windows Explorer and then save the combined file over the top of one of the documents, unless I give it a minute or two for whatever other process is "using" the file to let go of it. Before the update, the save was immediate. Is this a glitch, or is there something that can be done to fix it?

Re: Cannot save New Document
Hello EmilyW,
This is odd behavior indeed. Might I ask what programs (if any) the documents are open in? Also, have you found this happens with all files, or only a select few?
If this happens with specific files more often, could you possibly send us a copy of them as well for testing. If they contain sensitive information, you can send them via email to support@pdf-xchange.com with a link to this forum thread.

Re: Cannot save New Document
They are all PDF documents. I'm not sure whether the people sending me the PDF files used Adobe or PDF Xchange, but I use PDF Xchange exclusively. If the document is "open," it would be because I opened it for a moment to look at something and then closed it again.
It happens every time I try to combine multiple files and then save the new file over the top of one of the PDFs I included. The files aren't open anywhere, and after 60 seconds or so, it will finally let me save.
As a test, I went to another project folder and created some test files to make sure it didn't have something to do with our shared server with another office, but the same thing happened on our local server. And it wouldn't let me delete the test files until I shut PDF Xchange Editor down completely. So somehow the program is holding on to files longer than it used to.

Re: Cannot save New Document
A few suggestions:
1) In Windows File Explorer, via the View ribbon, make sure that the "Preview pane" is turned OFF
2) just to verify if the problem is in PDF-XChange Editor or rather in the network environment:
Copy two or more PDFs towards a folder on the C: drive of your computer. Then combine these files and try to overwrite the first PDF.
In case this scenario works correctly, then you will have to check why the problem happens on the network drives ...
Maybe try to de-activate the SharePoint plugin in PDF-XChange Editor ...
Regards.

Re: Cannot save New Document
Thank you for the suggestions willy,
EmilyW, please inform us of the results from these tests.
I would also like to verify, as you said since the latest update, can you please tell us what version and build number are displayed in the Editor under Help > about?

Re: Cannot save New Document
It's version 7, build 324.3.
I will try the suggestions later today if I get a chance. Otherwise, I will be out of the office until next Wednesday, but I will let you know the results either way.
Thanks!

Re: Cannot save New Document
Hello EmilyW,
I would also suggest you update once more, We have release two new updates since 234.3, and are now up at 325.1.
Updating to this new version could likely solve the issue.
