I'm a longtime PDF-XChange 4.0 Lite user... so longtime, in fact, that I have forgotten much about using it. It's just sort-of automatic and always works like a dream.
Quick question: My version is the 'free' one, which I suppose is somewhat limited, although for years it's done everything I need to do in creation of quality PDFs from a wide range of other programs. Now, can MP3 files be embedded in a PDF, such that when you click on a link within the PDF, the file is actually resident there, you aren't taken to a storage site? If so, can my 'Lite' version do this, or if I upgrade to 'Standard,' will this be possible? Many thanks.

Re: Embedding MP3 files in PDFs
PDF-XChange Lite and PDF-XChange Standard are (virtual) printers.
They do not offer a possibility to embed files in the resulting PDF.
To embed (attach) files into a PDF, you need an application to 'edit' PDF's, like PDF-XChange Editor.
Embedding files in PDF-XChange Editor is an 'advanced feature' for which you need a license.
In case you should use PDF-XChange Editor in 'demo' mode, embedding files will still work but publicity stamps will be put on every page of the PDF itself (the embedded files will be left untouched).
If you like, you can download, install and test all PDF-XChange Editor's features, before you should decide to buy a license.

Re: Embeding MP3 files in PDFs
Just for interest, could I embed a mp3 file into a pdf file using the PDFXChange Editor? I didn't find anything in the user manual

Re: Embeding MP3 files in PDFs
Hello, Puffolino
Yes, you can embed sound files, including MP3, with the "sound" comment tool on the comments tab: Simply place this in the document, and then browse to your desired MP3 file.
Alternatively, you can use the "attachments" pane (Ctrl+Shift+A) to attach any file type to the document, though this is a bit different from "embedding" as the reader will need another software capable of playing MP3 files present on their PC to open that attachment.
Kind regards,

Re: Embeding MP3 files in PDFs
Thanks, good hint!
I'm using the classic menus where I didn't find this menu
So I've added the command "Sound Tool" to the menu which does show a ">" symbol after the blue colored speaker then (with no effect). Because I have no idea how to remove the ">" from the menu I added the custom sound styles (green, red, yellow) to have some items in the sub menu. This is useless as there's no blue style and the icon color of the "Sound Tool" will change as soon a custom color has been chosen.
