Combine to certain location

I have a 8 page pdf file and a 1 page pdf file.

I know I can combine them into one ... but is there a way

to combine them to where the 1 page pdf file is inserted between page
2 and 3 of the 8 page pdf file.

Hello danna,

You have posted in the PDF Tools section, so I assume you want to achieve this operation with PDF Tools!
I am afraid that it is not really possible in a batch/automated/unattended process.

You can do it with UI (both in PDF Tools and in the Editor). In PDF Tools - you need to select this checkbox:

And then once you select your files - in one of the next steps you will have a new window pop-up where you can re-arrange the pages of the original documents in any way you want.

if using the Editor - just open the 8 page file, and then drag the single page document directly from e.g. your desktop to the thumbnails pane, and position it where you want it to be placed.
