Removing existing data from PDF

Post by icoates »

Is it possible to select original data from a PDF and remove it? I have a number of technical manuals with large images on the front cover. I would like to be able to remove the cover image, but leave everything else intact. Is this possible?

Deleting pages isn't available into current version of the viewer. It will be available into PRO version later.

Thanks, Ivan.

I don't want to delete the entire page (I can achieve this with another product I use), just the image on the page, leaving the text intact. I assume this isn't possible, either.

Hi,

No it is not possible to delete content from a page - the best that can be achieved is to cover it up using the shapes and text boxes available - but the content still exists.

We will be adding 'Redaction' in the future to the PRO release to completely remove selected content - but this is some way off just yet,

Thank you. Covering up the image would not achieve the desired effect, that being a significant reduction in file size. Not a problem, I was just hoping :-)

I was a little shocked after purchasing that the ability to simply select and delete was not a feature. Any idea when this Redaction will be added.

Thanks

Redaction feature is into our plans and will be realized soon, but I cannot be more specific for now.

Don't know if this would be suitable, but how about simply drawing a rectangle (or whatever) over the image, no border, fill the same colour as the page?

Drawing rectangle over the data you want to hide isn't enough solution even if you make flatten -- anybody who knows PDF a bit, can remove your drawings and will see original content.

Redaction means that data you want to hide, removed from the document permanently.
