Hello Forum and Tracker Support Team,
today I have a small request regarding the "Rotate Page" command.
Until recently, when executing the "Rotate Page(s)" command, the current page was rotated (if the main window had the input focus). This was very convenient, because you could rotate the current page very easily, especially if you had assigned a keyboard shortcut to "Rotate Page(s)":
Since one or two versions of PDF-XChange Editor, this seems to have been changed. Now it's always the page which is currently selected in the thumbnail pane (when that pane is open) that is rotated.
This makes sense as long as the thumbnail pane has the input focus. However, when the input focus is on the current page in the main window, then this current page should be rotated, and not the last page that had been selected in the Thumbnail Pane.
Thank you already for occasionally fixing this!
Kind Regards
David

Re: "Rotate Page(s)" has a small glitch
Hi,
To me it seems like the commands "Rotate Pages CCW 90°" and "Rotate Pages CW 90°" are the same as those in the Thumbnails pane. The tooltip talks about the "selected pages", not about the current page.
@Tracker Software Support
Maybe two additional commands will be necessary, one to rotate the "current page" CCW 90° and one for CW 90°, and maybe still a third one for 180° ?
If not, the existing commands could be modified to automatically see whether there are pages selected in the thumbnails pane or not (see below) ?
Best regards.
Willy

Re: "Rotate Page(s)" has a small glitch
Hello David, Willy Van Nuffel,
If you do have a "selected" page in the thumbnails pane - yes, the "Rotate Pages" will default to "selected".
However if you do not have a selection - it might default to "All" pages, but once you click the "Current" option, and use that - it should be remembered and from here on - offered as the 'default' option for page rotation when you use the Rotate Pages with a dialogue.
I see the idea to have a "Rotate Current Page xxx degrees" as explicit separate commands though and will pass the suggestion for consideration!
Kind regards,
Stefan

Re: "Rotate Page(s)" has a small glitch
Thank you Stefan, for your reply.
In the past, the command "Rotate pages 90°" worked like you describe it. Note that this command operates instantly, without showing a dialog box with options, such as "current page" etc.
That command used to affect the selected thumbnail(s) only when the thumbnail pane had the input focus. When the input focus was on the document however, only the currently displayed page was rotated. This was very convenient.
Meanwhile, it only works like that until you click on a thumbnail for the first time. If then you click back into the document, change to another page and then execute the "Rotate Pages 90°" command, instead of the current page, the originally selected thumbnail(s) and the corresponding page(s) are rotated, which is irritating.
I believe that this should be changed to the way it was before, in order for pages in the thumbnail pane only being rotated when the thumbnail pane has the input focus.
Otherwise, simply the currently displayed document page should be rotated.
Thanks for considering!
Best regards
David

Re: "Rotate Page(s)" has a small glitch
Hi David.
Cheers.
We will fix the current behavior to that previous one. The previous behavior was little unclear but more usable probably..That command used to affect the selected thumbnail(s) only when the thumbnail pane had the input focus. When the input focus was on the
document however, only the currently displayed page was rotated. This was very convenient.
Cheers.

Re: "Rotate Page(s)" has a small glitch
Hello David.P,
Apologies if it was not clear from my yesterday post.
Indeed I was aware that "Rotate pages..." invokes a dialogue and "Rotate Pages CCW/CW/180°" (currently with a tooltip for selected pages) does the operation directly without dialogue.
And Kudos to Vasyl for getting the functionality to the more useful version!
Kind regards,
Stefan
