Hi gfacco,
you should be able to Save As PDF/A in 354.0:
And it should include 1a and 1b options:
Are you seeing anything different?

Re: PDF in PDF/A-1a o PDF/A-1b type
Hello, Paul.
I'm not sure about the OP, but for me I still feel that the interface to access PDF/A is not going to be intuitive to a lot of users.
I reckon many users will think something like "I want to save this PDF with the 'archive option' specified."
They go to Save As, they see Save as Type = "PDF Documents (*.pdf)", which looks right. After all, a PDF/A document is a type of PDF document, and it would normally have the extension ".pdf".
So then they will want to click on the Options button to specify some form of PDF/A, but they cannot, because the button is greyed out.
Besides expecting people to read the manual (may not be the best solution) or rejigging the entire dialogue (may be problematic, for various reasons), hopefully there's some minor modification that would cue people where to look.
As an example, the existing default could be tweaked to
Save as Type = "PDF Documents, non-archive (*.pdf)"
That phrasing is somewhat clunky, but this is a suggestion to possibly spark some better ideas.

Re: PDF in PDF/A-1a o PDF/A-1b type
Hello DIV,
Thanks for your suggestion, but we need to use the Windows Save dialogue, and where we can make modifications is in the "Save as Type" and the "Options..." buttons.
Having the "Options..." button active for the default 'non PDF/A' .pdf files might be a bit tricky and more confusing for users, or it would require an initial dialogue asking which subtype of PDF/ you want to save as, and then show you the options for it - which again might be confusing to some other users. Also - I believe that some of those conversions are handled by plug-ins for the Editor, and as such might still need to remain separate.
We will discuss this internally with our devs and see what can be done to improve this further.
Kind regards,
Stefan

I thought my (specific) suggestion would fit within those constraints, as just being a pretty minimal change to the description shown for the default item in the drop-down box for the "Save as Type" element. Namely, Save as Type = "PDF Documents, non-archive (*.pdf)".
I agree that bigger changes could have undesirable side-effects.
