outlook 2007 file previewer
Hi, I am sorry that my post was not understandable
I will try again.
In outlook 2007 there is a previewer for some files like word, excel, txt and more, so you can read the file in the preview pane.
It would be nice to be able to preview pdf files, is that possible.
With regards from Iceland

I suspect this is going to be very difficult to provide simply as your existing previewers are MS products (notepad/MS Word etc) as is outlook and I am not sure if it is possible to 'muscle in' here.
Will ask our dev team to take a look and advise.

thanks for your patience.

To be honest, we have almost finished such a library. For now it works well with all OS versions, but still has some problems with MS Vista (not all possible new features are realized) and Office 2007 (Outlook preview is new for Office 2007 feature).

Re: Outlook pdf file previewer
Hi. Any updates on this? FoxIt released one not too long ago, but I'm committed to PDF-XChange.
I think it's important to realize just how powerfully useful it would be to be able to preview PDFs from Outlook!
Thanks so much!

Re: Outlook pdf file previewer
The strange thing is....that screenshot, which is supposed to demonstrate PDF Xchange Viewer's Preview Handler, has the traditional Adobe icon on the attachment. Does that mean that you had the Adobe Reader installed? If you do, of course it will preview....but no thanks to PDF Xchange.Ivan - Tracker Software wrote:Our plugin is ready (see screenshot) and will be available very soon.
As stated recently in another post, I have tried several times, each time on a freshly reformatted XPSP3 PRO machine, to install the Viewer Pro and the Shell Extentions. I just did it again this week, after reformatting my computer.....still can't preview PDF's in Outlook! It says there is an error with the PDF Xchange Preview Provider.

Re: Outlook pdf file previewer
I see. Problem is because under XP Office 2007 uses a bit different model (what is 'funny', not recommended by MS) for preview. Will add support for XP into build 41.1.

Re: Outlook pdf file previewer
Hi Ivan,
I would like to use a Outlook-plugin from PDF-XChange Pro, too. It would save some clicks and it could suggest automatically the name of the email as the name of the pdf file (which does not work via "print").
Best regards,
Michael

Hi Raysy,
What version of Outlook are you using and Windows Version?
If Outlook 2007, refer to this knowledgebase article:

Re: Outlook pdf file previewer
Hi Chris,
I'm using Windows XP and Outlook 2007 SP2 (German versions).
I have no problem with previewing attached PDF-files in Outlook, so the Tracker-DLL has to be registered. I can also use the Tracker-AddIns for Word and Excel 2007, they work.
When I want to save an email as a PDF, I choose it, so I can see it in the right pane. Then I click on "File", "Print" and choose "PDF-XChange 4.0" as the printer. Then I can save it, but the name is NOT ie "Topic reply notification - Outlook pdf file previewer.pdf" but "Microsoft Office Outlook - Tabellenformat.pdf" or "Microsoft Office Outlook - Memoformat.pdf" (depends on the format you choose in the print-window). In an English version of Outlook it should be named a bit different, perhaps "Microsoft Office Outlook - Tableformat.pdf"? With an Outlook-AddIn like a toolbar or so, I would just have to click on the PDF-XChange-icon in Outlook and the email would be saved as a pdf under the correct name, so I don't have to rename the created pdf.
Maybe this is a different problem, than what was discussed here?
Best regards,
Michael

Re: Outlook pdf file previewer
Hi Raysy,
I would suggest waiting to see what V5 of the Print Driver brings. In this release we are working on an Outlook Addin that is similar in concept to the current print driver addin for other MS Office applications. For example, one feature that we are often asked for is the ability to create a PDF of an email with attachments. This is in the works and I suspect that your file naming questions will be addresses here.
